What is Camellia sinensis?
Camellia sinensis is the Latin name for the tea plant, a small tree or evergreen bush found in tropical and subtropical places around the globe.
Its elongated and dark green leaves, which range ¼ inch to ten inches in length, are used to make all real teas – meaning white, oolong, yellow, pu-erh, green and black teas. (The tea plant does have fruit and flowers, too, but only leaves and young leaf buds or shoots are used to make tea).
The bud and first 2 or 3 leaves are preferred for tea – lighter and younger in color; they make a finer standard tea. All true teas come from the tea plant
